Coveland Village is a hybrid development on a former brownfield site between the historic district and the mixed commercial/residential areas of Coupeville Washington on Whidbey Island. Four new buildings – two residential and two commercial – are organized to mix residential and small commercial uses.
A small-scale vineyard and meadow define the transition between the upper residential and lower commercial areas and contribute to the appeal of the project.
The courtyard provides a place to sit outside or wander between the buildings. Coveland Village offers a pleasant place to linger, and rental spaces that are small and affordable enough for a wide range of local tenants.
The development connects to local building tradition through the simplicity of its architecture and the cadence and scale of detail.
