Interior renovations at the historic Roslyn Northwest Improvement Company Store Building have been completed. Centrally located in Roslyn’s historic and commercial core and owned by the Roslyn Downtown Association (RDA), the building is part of Roslyn’s Main Street revitalization efforts.
The largest building in Roslyn, it is the last remaining structure associated with the Roslyn Coal Field. As the “company store,” the building originally served a variety of needs under one roof.
The NWIC Building was constructed in 1889 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. SHKS's renovation of the structure is consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Rehabilitation, preserving the original wood columns, stamped tin ceilings and wood floors.
The renovation brings light into the primary corridor, creating a lively retail space. The building will also house the RDA visitor’s center, offices, and a distillery.
The renovation of the NWIC Building and enhanced presence of the RDA can catalyze further retail and construction investment downtown, attracting more residents and visitors to the community.
