WWU Carver Labs
Programs in medicine, health, and fitness are growing rapidly across the country. To alleviate crowding in existing lab spaces at Western Washington University, SHKS transformed 2,800 square feet of unoccupied space in the Carver Academic Facility to accommodate two new anatomy and physiology laboratories. Separated by a shared storage and prep area, the laboratory spaces maintain flexibility for multi-purpose use as programs continue to evolve.
Built-in furnishing, such as cabinetry and sinks, are limited to perimeter walls to maximize adaptable space. Student and teacher work stations all incorporate movable and adjustable furnishings.
